3.12.6. Radiator

Removal from the car
Merge liquid from a radiator and the block of cylinders, having removed drain traffic jams in the lower tank of a radiator and on the block of cylinders; at the same time open the heater crane, and remove a stopper of a radiator from a bulk mouth (since 1988 on engines with electric fans the drain stopper of the lower tank was removed, and liquid is merged through an opening of the sensor of turning on of the electric fan).

Not to damage a radiator, turning off a drain stopper of the lower tank, hold with the second key the stopper union which is sealed in a radiator. Turn off a stopper a face or cap key not to damage a stopper side.

Disconnect hoses of a supply and removal of cooling liquid from the engine, and disconnect wires from the electric motor 4 (fig. 3-67) of the fan and its sensor 6.
Turn off bolts of fastening of a radiator to a body and take out it from an engine compartment together with the thermostat, hoses and the electric fan.
Remove from a radiator hoses and a casing of the fan with the electric motor.
In 1988 on some lots of cars establish a radiator with an aluminum core and plastic tanks.
Tightness check
Tightness of a radiator is checked in a bathtub with water.
Having muffled radiator branch pipes, bring to it air under pressure of 0,1 MPas
(1 kgf/cm2) also lower in a bathtub with water not less than on 30 sec. At the same time air etching should not be observed. For check of aluminum radiators pressure has to be 0,2 MPas (2 kgfs/cm2).
Solder insignificant damages of a brass radiator soft solder, and at considerable replace a radiator new.
