4.4.6. Half shafts

Removal and installation
Remove a wheel and the brake drum.
Having turned off nuts of fastening of a board of a brake to a bridge beam, a stripper 67.7801.9516, holding a brake board, take a half shaft together with a maslootrazhatel, a plate of fastening of the bearing and a locking ring of the bearing.
In need of replacement take out an epiploon from a beam flange.
You carry out installation of a half shaft to the sequences, the return to removal, being careful not to damage a working edge of an epiploon. Before installation of the brake drum grease a landing corbel of a half shaft with graphite lubricant or LSTs-15 lubricant. After installation check work of half shafts in road conditions.

Check of technical condition
Check technical condition of the details which are included in the half shaft package and make sure that:
— the ball-bearing is not worn-out and is not damaged; if the axial gap in it exceeds 0,7 mm, replace the bearing;
— the locking ring and the bearing did not receive any shift of rather initial landing; if the internal ring of the bearing is turned rather landing corbel of a half shaft, replace a locking ring;
— the plate of fastening of the bearing and a maslootrazhatel have no damages;
— the half shaft is not deformed and landing surfaces are not damaged; the half shaft beating measured in the centers on a neck under an epiploon should not exceed 0,08 mm. Before installation in the centers carefully clear of dirt and a rust centering openings on a half shaft.
If wear or damage of the details established on a half shaft is found, replace them new with observance of rules below and with use of special devices. Eliminate an insignificant bend of a core of a half shaft with editing. After editing of a core of a half shaft the flange end face beating measured in the centers should not exceed 0,05 mm. If the flange end face beating over specified, but no more than 0,08 mm, then is allowed its pro-point for elimination of a face beating. Reduction of thickness of a flange at the expense of its pro-point is allowed no more than on 0,2 mm.

Removal of a locking ring
It is necessary to remove and establish a locking ring of the bearing of a half shaft only by means of a hydraulic press.
Half rings of A.74108/R adaptation capture the bearing and establish a half shaft vertically so that half rings leaned on a persistent ring.

Put a half shaft (fig. 4-59) under a press and put on shlitsevy the end of a half shaft gradually increasing effort before removal of a locking ring of the bearing. Do not reuse a locking ring of the bearing of a half shaft, and replace new.
Check whether the landing surface of a half shaft рисок or damages has; if necessary replace a half shaft new.

Put vertically a half shaft, opiry its flange on a ring of 4 (fig. 4-60) (A.74107/1R) of adaptation.
Establish on a half shaft the half shafts which are previously connected among themselves by two screws a maslootrazhatel of the bearing and a plate of fastening of the bearing with laying; install the half shaft ball-bearing.
Insert a new locking ring into a special holder 7, put in the furnace and warm up a ring approximately to 300 °C at the time of a press fitting on a half shaft its temperature was 220–240 °.
The locking ring on a half shaft to a napressovyvayta a mandrel 1 on the press by effort is not higher than 58800 N (6000 kgfs) so that the internal ring of the bearing was clamped between a locking ring and a fillet of a half shaft.

Having executed a napressovka, be convinced that the ring is not displaced under axial load of 19600 N (2000 kgfs). For this purpose assembled install a half shaft on A.95601/R adaptation (fig. 4-61) and a locking ring clamp in a special vice.
Put an indicator leg, with the price of division of 0,01 mm, to a half shaft flange. After installation of an arrow of the indicator on "0" apply the specified axial loading, creating a dynamometer key the moment of tightening of 78,4-83,3 N · mm (8–8,5 kgfs · l) on adaptation screw. The screw through a ball rests against a half shaft end face. At the same time there should not be even the most minimum gap between a locking ring and an internal ring of the bearing.
After removal of loading and at an otvertyvaniye of the screw of adaptation of the shooter of the indicator has to return to zero situation; it proves that there was no shift between a locking ring and a half shaft. If the arrow of the indicator does not come back to zero situation, the locking ring means it was displaced and the half shaft assembled needs to be replaced new.

Measurement of an axial free wheeling of a half shaft on the car
The axial free wheeling of a half shaft can be measured on the car as with the removed wheel and the brake drum, and without their removal. In the first case the measurement turns out more exact. For what:
— take off caps from back wheels and weaken bolts of their fastening;
— put an emphasis under forward wheels and you will hang out the back bridge;
— release the parking brake and install the gear shifting lever in neutral situation;
— remove wheels and brake drums;

— tighten adaptation 02.7834.9504 (fig. 4-62) to a half shaft;
— pass through one or the other big openings of a half shaft the indicator 1 leg extender against the stop in a board of a brake or in a maslootrazhatel and fix the indicator;
— make measurement by the indicator, putting to a half shaft flange effort about 49 N (5 kgfs) in both directions along an axis of the back bridge. The free wheeling should not exceed 0,7 mm.
You make measurement of a free wheeling of a half shaft without removal of a wheel and the brake drum as it is described above, taking into account the following features:
— fix adaptation 02.7834.9504, using one of openings under bolts of fastening of a wheel;
— pass a leg of the extender of the indicator 1 through other opening under a bolt of fastening of a wheel;
— the effort enclosed to a wheel along an axis of the back bridge has to be about 98 N (10 kgfs), a free wheeling of a half shaft to 0,7 mm.
