7.1.4. Adjustment of the parking brake

       NOTE
Since the beginning of the 90th years the structure of the gear sector of the lever of the parking brake changed — the initial tooth of the sector became dual and the adjustment order noted below in the text changed

If the parking brake does not hold the car on a bias of 25% when moving the lever on 4–7 (2–8) * sector teeth, adjust it in the following order:

— lift the lever 11 (see fig. 7-1) on 1–2 teeth of the sector (this operation is carried out only for the gear sector of an "old" design);
— weaken a lock-nut of the 26th tension device and, wrapping an adjusting nut 27, pull a cable 25;
— check a full speed of the lever 11 which has to be 4–5 (2–4) * teeth on the sector, then tighten a lock-nut 26.
Having executed several braking, be convinced that the course of the lever did not change, and wheels rotate freely, without prikhvatyvaniye at completely lowered lever 11.

       NOTE
If cables are replaced new, then it is necessary to make two-triple braking, putting the effort equal to about 392 N (40 kgfs) to the lever of the drive of the parking brake. At the same time there will be an extract of cables.
