8.2.5. Check of degree of a razryazhennost of the battery

At failure of the battery in operation, and also at its service it is necessary to check a razryazhennost of the rechargeable battery the accumulator areometer. It is at the same time necessary to measure also temperature of electrolyte to consider the temperature amendment to indications of the areometer specified in tab. 8-2.

At a temperature of electrolyte above 30 °C the size of the amendment increases to the actual indication of the areometer. If temperature of electrolyte is below 20 °C, then the size of the amendment is respectively subtracted. When electrolyte temperature within 20–30 °C the amendment on temperature is not entered.
After determination of density of electrolyte in each element of the battery degree of its razryazhennost according to table 8-3 is established. Than for 25% in the winter and more, than for 50% in the summer, remove the battery discharged more from the car and recharge.
During measurement of density you watch that on the surface of the battery, the body and other details did not fall from a pipette the electrolyte drops containing sulfuric acid which causes corrosion, leakages of current, etc.
Not to receive the wrong results, do not measure electrolyte density:
— if its level does not meet standard;
— if electrolyte too hot or cold; optimum temperature at measurement of density of 15-27 °C;
— after a dolivka of the distilled water. It is necessary to wait until electrolyte mixes up; if the battery is discharged, then for this purpose can be required even several hours;
— after several inclusions of a starter. It is necessary to wait that the uniform density of electrolyte in a battery element was established;
— at the "boiling" electrolyte. It is necessary to wait until bubbles in the electrolyte gathered in an areometer pipette rise to the surface.
